Getting ready for the day!!

Thursday : Last week of vacation, and I have been busy all week. Traveled to my dad's home place this week, spent time with distant cousin, and taking pictures of childhood places. Wonderful memories with each picture!! I will post some soon!

Spent swimming time with my grandchildren, as being a Nana is about the best thing ever!! although the quiet time I have had this week has allowed me to rest and relax.

Quilting today, and ignoring the weeds and outdoor JOBS that need doing. sorry , sewing wins out today!!!

Time with Family

Spent some time with my sister today, and we talked about family. Although we had never met our great-grandmother, Dorothy Turner, better known as "Turnie", she is pictured above with my father (on the left) William Turner Walker, and my uncle Pete Walker.

Mom and I

My Mom and I
Mom is 87 years old, and still doing well. She gets a little lonely in the winter, but has turned her living room into sewing machine repair central!! She loves working on old machines that have been sitting idol for years, and making them usable again. AND.... she is pretty good at it. She is not a quilter, but her Mom was. Her love is clothing. She will alter all day!!! and that is NOT my thing at all. For me, I love to quilt. One size fits all, OR no matter what size you make it...... it fits!!!!

Getting a New Start

Today's Goal: Quilt with a friend!! Wash my car, and just enjoy the beauty of the day!!

Saturday, February 1, 2014

Took a break from the king-sized Swoon quilt to make my first block of Pat Sloan's Globetrotting. I am excited about this year, and what I would like to get done as a quilter. Of course, being wife, Mom, Nana, and full time teacher will have to fit into my schedule somewhere!!!!

Thursday, January 23, 2014

Finally finished all of the quilting on my Swoon king sized quilt, and now for what will be days or should I say evenings of hand binding. This will be the first quilt finished for 2014. We have been blasted by extremely cold weather, and a little bit of snow. It would be great if I didn't have to go to work in the stuff!! Looking forward to retirement in 3 years!!!

Monday morning blues!! Had a great time with 3 of the 8 grandchildren yesterday, but spent most of my weekend grading papers and cleaning house. Now for the big new year's resolution. Learn how to use my new quilting machine to its' fullest!!! potential. Finished the top, and piecing the bottom  of the Swoon quilt, and it is now loaded and awaiting my thread order!!! UGH!!! Why didn't I order white before????? Guess I like colors better!! Oh well, it will be here soon enough. Oh and by the way, thank you my dear husband, David, for helping me clean this weekend!!!!

Sunday, January 5, 2014

Well, it is Sunday, and the last day off from work!! But wow, what changes I have made. I have finished the Swoon top, it is 110 by 110 inches, so now to enlarge a backing in order to quilt it. I have joined another quilt group, and signed up for a class already!!!
The only down side, my sinuses just won't behave, and now my eyes are all yucked up too!!! Oh well, guess I should quarantine myself in my sewing room!!
Happy New Year to all.
